I did a Google search for alcoholism in Washington and found over twenty million results. The top of the search page contained two sponsored links, one for Pacific Hills and the other for Desert-Canyon.com. There was another set of results above my regular search results for Scholarly articles for alcoholism in Washington.
The first scholarly article about alcoholism in Washington was written in 1988 by JE Helzer and TR Pryzbeck. The name of the article was "The co-occurrence of alcoholism with other psychiatric disorders in the general population and its impact on treatment". About.com had the top search result for alcoholism in Washington. The page that was linked to my result had a list of alcohol and substance abuse centers, rehabilitation centers and hospitals with web pages. They have a list provided with city names for twelve cities in Washington State.
My next search result for alcoholism in Washington took me to StopAddiction.com. I learned that in 2003, there were a reported 341 drug rehabilitation and addiction centers in Washington. These centers combined to serve over 30,000 clients for alcohol and/or drug abuse problems.
Another search result for alcoholism in Washington led me to the Agape Center. The purpose of the Agape Center is to provide a place where people, who are recovering from alcoholism and other drug addictions, and the family members of those with alcohol and drug problems, can meet with each other in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. The Agape Center provides a refuge from the stress of the outside world and a place where education and other activities leading to recovery can be found.
